It's almost 3:00am. The nurse recently came in to do a check and we had a hard time waking Dad out of his deep sleep. He seemed really annoyed with the nurse (who can blame him -- I don't know anyone who likes to be woken up at 2:30am). She asked him to do all of the standard things -- open his eyes, move his fingers, wiggle his toes. He was SO sleepy, and really struggled to do the toe part. She was persistent and kept telling him that she wouldn't leave him alone until he did it. It took about 15 minutes of all three of us -- the nurse, Ryan and I -- telling him to do it before we got a big convincing movement of his foot. She said that when they start letting them sleep more, it becomes harder to wake them back up for these checks. Makes sense.
He's laying in bed now, watching ESPN without the volume on. He doesn't want the volume and says he isn't tired now. So, we're just chillin'. We put his watch on him, and he's been checking it regularly. I'm not sure if he can see it... it seems like more of a habit than anything, but he seems glad to have it on. I'm hoping he'll go back to sleep soon. It's been good to see him get good sleep.
Hey Orgill family! I just want to let you and your dad know that you're all in our prayers. I think that you're all amazing for taking such good care of your dad and each other. I just want to let you know that I'm available if anyone needs childcare or meals brought where ever! I can't imagine how exhausted you must be, but please let me know if I can help out in any way. I just love your family! Get well quickly Dennis! You're doing great!
