Hi. This is Karen. Sharon is here visiting too. The physical therapists just left after working with Dad for a bit. He has been very quiet and sleepy this morning, so it was a bit of a struggle to wake him up enough to engage in the therapy, but he woke up, and they were able to sit him up on the side of the bed, with his feet on the floor. One of the exercises they did was having him use his hands to push to push their hands away from him. He did this very well with his left side, and moderately well with his right. He can raise his left had up high to grasp theirs. Then they have him kick his lower legs up. He does this very well with his left. And moderately well with his right. This seems to be very consistent. They did mention today that he is supporting himself better today than he was yesterday. Meaning he was using his own strength to hold himself upright and to move his body more to the left or right. He was very sleepy during all of this, and we had to keep reminding him to wake up and focus...which he did. Overall the therapists think he is doing very well, for having this happen such a short time ago. He was not talking to them as much today however, using only shakes of his head or nodding to respond. Until however, they asked him if he was ready to lay back down, and he emphatically said, "Yes." True to form.
They took him this morning, before therapy for another cat scan to check the status of his bleed, but I have not gotten the results of that yet. I will post again when I do. The speech therapist and the doctor should be here at some point this morning, so I will post the results of those visits as well. Dad is resting now...after a great effort with his therapy.
